News from Nora
Nora, Fatima, and the students of Strength in STEM (SiSTEM) are on break. When it became clear that their students needed to help prepare for Eid, school was paused. But not before Nora assigned homework.
Here's Nora's most recent update, sent a few days ago:
"I'm infinitely grateful to everyone who has financially supported us through GoFundMe. I truly appreciate each and every one of them, and I sincerely strive not to disappoint our donors and to transform SiSTEM into one of the largest online schools in Afghanistan in the near future.
As you're aware, we're in the final days of Ramadan, and during this period, the girls in Afghanistan are deeply engrossed in preparing for Eid. Consequently, I decided to close SiSTEM until the fifteenth so they could focus on Eid preparations without any distractions. However, I've mandated that all students use this time to read at least one book and present a summary of it after the holidays.
Starting on April 15th, Cyber Security classes will commence, gradually transitioning into IT classes. Additionally, our Women's Health teacher has made a commendable commitment to providing free medical services to all our students in Kabul if any of them require medical attention after Eid.
Our brother is actively working on constructing an online library for SiSTEM and plans to finalize it soon, with intentions to share the link with the public.
Our other activities remain consistent with those of previous days, marked by eager anticipation as we await the unfolding of our future. Meanwhile, we diligently pursue our studies. As you know, I'm solely responsible for leading the English classes, dedicating the majority of my time to improving my English language skills. Fatima is equally immersed in her studies and English learning endeavors. Presently, she's tasked with teaching our youngest siblings, as my focus is primarily on SiSTEM. This arrangement not only benefits her own learning but also enhances her understanding through teaching."
Nora, Fatima, and their family continue to live precariously as refugees in Pakistan. Despite relentless effort, every safe haven has kept their doors shut. At any moment, they could be arrested and forced to return to Afghanistan. Meanwhile, these two teenagers teach, learn, and rekindle dreams. By girls, for girls.
Can you help? Donations go directly to Nora and Fatima to help them grow SiSTEM. Visit their GoFundMe page to learn more about Nora, Fatima, and their mission to teach and help transform a generation of Afghan girls.
